Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before starting with Stract API.

There is nothing to install or configure. Create an account, upload your documents, and tell Stract what data you want to extract. Most analyses finish in seconds, so you can go from sign-up to downloadable results in minutes.

Stract API runs analyses on your behalf, which we charge on a per analysis basis. We are unfortunately unable to provide a free trial. However, if you would like a guided walkthrough first, get in touch and we will set up a demo.

You pick your own price. Stract API lets you choose the AI model that fits your preferred balance of cost and capability: simple tasks can be solved for just a few cents per document, while state-of-the-art models are available for more complex analyses. See the pricing page for more details.

Yes. Reach out through the contact page and our team will help you get your analysis set up and running.

Stract API is fully SOC 2 compliant, so your documents and extracted data are handled under audited security controls. No one else has access to your documents or data. We do not share or sell our users' data for any reason.

Text documents of almost any kind — text, document scans, audio (e.g. of interviews), tables, and more. If it contains information you need to analyze, Stract API can work with it. Our roadmap currently includes adding image and videos to the list of file types we can work with. These capabilities should be available soon.

Anything you can phrase as a question about your documents: names, email addresses, dates, numbers, counts of specific items, categories, and more. You define exactly what you want, and Stract runs the extraction start-to-end across all of your documents.

Your results are delivered in easily digested formats (like CSV and JSON), ready to drop into a spreadsheet or your own tooling. If there's a format you need that isn't currently supported, please reach out to us.

No. Stract API includes an easy-to-use UI for setting up and running analyses, plus an API for teams that want to integrate document extraction into their own workflows.

You choose. Stract API supports a range of LLMs, from cost-effective smaller models to the newest, most robust models available — so you can match the model to the complexity of the task. If you've heard about the model, we likely provide access to it.

Yes — that is one of the main reasons Stract exists. When new questions come up, add them to your analysis and rerun it across your documents instead of starting the manual review over from scratch.

Anyone with a large stack of documents and not enough time or staff to analyze them: lawyers, journalists, researchers, social scientists, marketers, and more.

Stract API is currently available in the United States, and we are working on expanding to additional geographies soon. If you are outside the US, get in touch and let us know where you are — we will notify you as soon as Stract API is available in your region.
